DARIEN — Boston-based eatery Tatte Bakery & Café will open its first Connecticut location in Darien’s Corbin District.
The Corbin District announced the news Wednesday morning in a post on Instagram, saying Tatte has been a frequent request over the last five years and adding, “This beautifully designed space is certain to become a Darien and regional favorite.”
“We have worked hard to find unique and interesting businesses to locate in the Corbin District, and so we are especially excited about the fact that this will be Tatte’s first Connecticut location, and one of the first in the New York region,” said Baywater Properties CEO David Genovese, the developer behind the Corbin District.
Founded by Israeli-born pastry chef Tzurit Or in 2007, Tatte currently operates 44 locations in the Greater Boston Area, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. according to its website.Tatte’s menu offers a variety of breakfast options, sandwiches and bowls, along with pastries and specialty coffees.
Tatte is the latest business announced in Darien’s Corbin District, a seven-acre redevelopment of downtown Darien bringing in new dining, retail and apartments. Other restaurants expected to open in the district include Corsica Wine Bar, Chopt, Millie’s and Hinoki.
“Our emphasis has always been on preserving the opportunity for our beloved local retailers to operate in the new buildings. We are working hard to sprinkle among the pre-existing stores dynamic regional restaurants and retailers, such as Rhone and Hinoki and Millies’ Restaurant, along with the coolest concepts from New York City, like Barry’s Bootcamp and YogaSpark,” Genovese said. “We are confident that by mixing the tenancy in this way, we can create a highly energized, more walkable downtown for Darien and residents of the region to enjoy.”
Construction on the Corbin District’s second and final phase is currently underway, with new businesses and office space expected to open in summer 2026.
