Waking up Darien — Publication: Moffly Media: New Canaan • Darien By Jenifer Jonson Sitting in the artisan coffee bar Espresso Neat, on Grove Street in Darien, is a bit of a full-circle experience for longtime town resident Penny Glassmeyer. Nearly twenty years ago, she began acquiring the four properties that form the core of the development of the brickwalk Grove Street Plaza. "I wanted to open a coffee shop here," she says. "The idea at the time was just to restore two of the houses and put a coffee shop in the ground floor of one. Of course it didn't work out that way, but it's kind of ironic that we're sitting here all these years later in a coffee shop that exceeds my expectations of what a good coffee shop should be." |

Darien Entrepreneur ‘Pops Up’ a New Shop Publication: TheDailyDarien.com By Casey Donahue Rosey Costello usually takes her gift items and attire on the road to host trunk shows across the tri-state area. But with the help of her friends and neighbors, she has set up a temporary "pop up" store, Everything Is Rosey, on Post Road in Darien. "It's a great way to reconnect with people, since I'm on the road so much," Costello said. She likes the stability that comes with having all of her merchandise in the same place every day. "It's nice knowing that I can close up, vacuum and know that everything is set up in the morning when I come in again." In talking to David Genovese of Baywater Properties, Costello learned of space that would be vacant until August when somebody was set to move in. So they decided to try out a temporary storefront for Costello's business, which will remain open until the end of June. "David Genovese is the reason why this all happened," she said, adding that he emailed thousands on his mailing list to spread the word. |
Baywater celebrates Darien project Publication: The Stamford Advocate By Richard Lee While Fairfield County commercial landlords struggle to attract tenants, most would say Baywater Properties took a chance in constructing a two-story, 18,000-square-foot office building in Darien without a tenant. But soon after steel started rising, the Darien-based developer signed an unnamed tenant to a 10-year-lease for the second floor, giving David Genovese, its founder and partner, ammunition in marketing the yet-to-be finished building at 17 Old Kings |
Making "the scene" - Ten Twenty Post, Darien Publication: 203 Modern Affluent Living I'm a food writer, so I eat out often. But I go to Ten Twenty Post even when I don't have to. To accompany one of those popular drinks, cake-like French toast with Vermont maple syrup garnished with vibrant fresh berries, and the "Portuguesa Breakfast Plate" with grilled linguica and pepper-onion-cheese "scramble" are the dishes of choice. |
